We very much regret to announce the death of a long standing and much respected member, Mrs Eira Ellis.
Eira was President in the Millenium year and then took over the role of Programme Secretary, which she performed with great efficiency. She was a friend, supporter and encourager to all Club members, as well as to her colleagues at the Citizens Advice Bureau and former teaching colleagues. The regard in which she was held was reflected by the size of the congregation at her funeral in December. She will be greatly missed
Our Christmas celebration was somewhat overshadowed by this sad event, but after a silent tribute our President suggested that Eira would wish us to enjoy the evening and remember the happy times we had shared. So this was what we did
January brought heavy snow and ice in the Vale of Clwyd. As a result it was neccessary to cancel the January meeting. We hope for better luck for our next meeting on Feb 01, when, after a brief business meeting, we will be preparing parcels for distribution to wounded service personnel who have to be repatriated by air from the war zones in the Middle East
We have continued to support Glyndwr Women's Aid and were pleased to be able to contribute to their annual pantomime visit. This year some 70 women and children had a great day out, helping to ensure that the school holidays were enjoyed by children who are away from their usual homes
