LOCAL CLUB

Soroptimist International
Denbigh, Ruthin and District

The Club was formed in 1953 and we celebrated our Golden Jubilee in 2003

Our members come from a wide area around Denbigh and Ruthin, as well as more rural parts of the Vale of Clwyd

We represent a variety of business and professional sectors, including finance, health, law, hospitality, public services, retail, farming and so on. We are active, enthusiastic, friendly and fun-loving in our fund-raising activities

Regular Club meetings are held on the first Monday of each month (unless this is a Bank Holiday, when we meet the following Monday). There is no meeting in August. The programme is a mixture of topical speakers, social and fund-raising events

Our President this year is Mrs Carole Shone Crosby

Carole was born and educated in Ruthin. She trained as a physiotherapist in Manchester and after a period of work in Rhyl moved to Canada where she trained and specialised in Intensive Care. She then moved to Hong Kong, where she lived for many years with her husband and son, returning to Ruthin on retirement. These experiences have provided her with a wide perspective which attracted her to Soroptimism as a "global voice for women"

Her theme for the year is "Having fun, working for others" and her chosen charity is St Kentigern's Hospice.
